Description

An eye catching dwarf evergreen shrub that will light up your landscape or container gardens, the Dwarf Variegated Boxwood sports outstanding variegated leaves of white, yellow, medium green and dark green. This cute little boxwood provides excellent contrast and/or a splash of color just about anywhere in the landscape that gets 3 hours or more of direct sun, maintaining its bright color even in more shady areas. No pruning necessary however can be sheared to formal shapes.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a rounded form 18 to 36 inches tall and wide (depending on pruning), the Dwarf Variegated Boxwood is a bright accent in smaller garden spaces and perfect for use in pots, planters and other containers 12 inches or more in diameter. Also ideal for use as a colorful natural or clipped formal low hedge or as a specimen or grouping in landscape borders or home foundation plantings.

Spacing: 18-24 inches apart for solid hedge; 4 feet or more apart for space between plants

Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 6a, where this Boxwood variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Growing Preferences

The Variegated Dwarf Boxwood is easy to grow when planted right, and in the right spot. It adapts to most soil types and likes full sun or part shade, preferring afternoon shade or filtered sun in warmer climates of the South. It prefers a moist but well-drained soil and will only need supplemental water during prolonged periods of dry weather. As with many other plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic.

So I just received my Variegated English Boxwoods and I’m in love!!! They arrived fast and were impeccably packaged; literally not one drop of soil was in the box. I ordered 4 of these beauties and each pot was stuffed with damp paper and taped so that there was absolutely no spillage. And they were completely undamaged. As for the look, they are BEAUTIFUL!! The variegated leaves which are cream and deep green, make for a GORGEOUS light green appearance that I just LOVE. These boxwoods are so healthy and beautiful. I couldn’t be happier. Each time I order I think to myself, no way these will arrive as pretty as pictured. But with Wilson Bros. they always DO and are even more stunning in person! I LOVE this company and nursery, they love what they do and it SHOWS in the quality of their beautiful plants.
